On Sunday, 1st Feb 2009, 15 Yolngu gave their life to the Lord Jesus Christ. What a blessing this will be on their lives.
This is a real sign of fruit from the Homeland Outreach program launched last September in East Arnhem Land, a joint venture between MAF and the OASIS Church in Nhulunbuy.
The team has set clear objectives to preach the Gospel regularly, towards making disciples of the Yolngu indigenous people.
We have promised them regular support, each and every month, so that they may be encouraged in their faith, in what are difficult conditions for them.
Arnhem Land Yolngu people are surrounded by fear of ‘the serpent’. We preach every third Sunday in the month to over 120 Yolngu who come together in the name of Jesus Christ.
We use MAF aircraft to visit four homelands up to 150km away, or a days travel by bush road. Using aircraft we access the remote hostile environment, even in the wet season.
Pastor Phil stepped up the pace last Sunday, inviting people to give their lives to the Lord. We prayed for a sick Yolngu woman and heard personal testimonies from the Yolngu leadership.
This year, 2009, we plan for another aircraft to reach another four homelands each month.
